Simple Tab Groups by Drive4ik

by André luiz, a month agoMostly, it's kinda hard to manage a huge amount of groups and tabs, as you can't multi-select groups and tabs. It's really hard to move tabs around groups, organize the order of groups, delete multiple groups at once, etc. It's not as practical as it should be. And I think the UI is kinda outdated, though that's just aesthetics. But also, it is the only tab group extension I've seen that saves this much memory. You open a group and it doesn't load 60 tabs unless you specifically tell it to. For that alone, I don't switch from Firefox to Chrome (because Firefox mobile fucking sucks, at least on MIUI). I also like the praticality of deleting tabs from a group. You open the group and close the tab normally, it counts. For some reason other extensions are more convoluted than that, which is fucking nuts. And lastly, the backups are hit or miss. The automatic and manual local backups are great, but the bookmarks are really weird to me. Like, why doesn't it synchronize with current tabs (or at least have an option for that)? Instead, it adds the initial tabs and then keeps adding new ones infinitely. It's looks like a mess and I see no point in it. For me to get all my groups, as they currently are, as bookmarks, I have to delete the STG folder and wait for it to save again. That or I'd have to add every single one manually, but that's not viable.
I'd give it a 3 for lack of practicality when organizing shit, but it keeping me stuck on Firefox because of how useful it is makes it a 4.

For some reason you cant specify where the backups folder is placed. It just defaults to where firefox's downloads folder is. And i dont want this backupfolder to be in my downloads. plz fix. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18451857, 2 days ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by DeepDive9984, 10 days agoIf you have more than five tabs open or more than two windows to separate your tabs thematically, do yourself a favor and install this add-on. If you're a keyboard shortcut lover, set them up and enjoy the organization of your tabs taken to the next level.

It allows me to create groups like in Chrome, but unlike Chrome, these simple tab groups replace the all the previous tabs you have open (when you switch to a different group).
Other extension open them in a new window and load them all, which I don't want, I mean I have groups with 1000+ tabs in them and loading so many can crash weaker computers or cause certain websites to block you.
Others like Chrome open the new tab group in the same window making it cluttered and unorganized.
Your ungrouped tabs are not lost when switching to a group, but I still recommend creating a group for them, just call it 'casual' or 'random'.
And unlike new windows or Chrome tab groups the 'vacation' or 'job hunting' group you weren't supposed to be looking at at work can be quickly switched to/from and perfectly hidden.
I was afraid it doesn't have backup options, but thankfully it does.
This plugin and Download Manager (S3) made it so I can pretty much switch over to using Firefox instead of Chrome, and that's pretty huge. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17846056, 14 days ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by MC, 18 days agoLot of customization options & a bit confusing to use at first, but once you figure it out very convenient! This will be a great hold-off until the Firefox team offers a native, built-in feature.
